Transforming education step by step

A little bit about me. I have been a teacher trainer and learning designer since 2017, facilitating learning experiences in Australia, Asia and Europe in the areas of PBL, active learning, new technologies, soft skills and social and emotional learning.

At present I am also Head trainer in Seville for Europass Teacher Academy. For around 15 years I also taught Spanish and English as a second language, in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education in Spain, the U.S. and Australia. I have taught in the Master of Education at Flinders University as a lecturer and travelled extensively facilitating professional development for teachers on Project Based Learning. I have spent 4 years researching in my PhD at Flinders University in Australia the effect of Project Based Learning in the motivation of students of Spanish as a second language. I have a B.A. in Languages and Literature from the University of Seville and a MA in Teaching and learning of Spanish as a Foreign language from the University Pablo de Olavide and I have completed a PhD at Flinders University.

In my classes, I use experiential learning, critical thinking and creativity as my main methodology. I got to Project Based Learning when I was a teacher worried about motivating more my students and trying to prepare them for real life and this journey has engaged me for more than 6 years now, still feeling full of enthusiasm and passion about this methodology.

It is my wish and my hope that we all teachers can plant little gardens of beautiful creative and critical minds all around the world that will eventually become endless forests which will populate our Earth.

What is Connected Minds Teacher Academy?

Connected Minds Teacher Academy is the first training provider in Europe to specialize in Project Based Learning, and the reason is we want to not only to offer a high-quality experience for teacher participants but we also want to have a long-term impact in improving their teaching practice.

Our signs of identity are:

  • Focus on quality and personalised attention

  • Small classes with big minds

  • Creation of useful products in every training

  • Fostering of a community of practice

  • Follow up

We offer both online and face-to-face teacher training courses.

Courses' Pedagogy

The pedagogy used in our trainings is PBL itself, which taps on inquiry-based, experienced-based and hands-on learning approaches to maximize the learning outcomes and engagement from teacher participants. I have attended many professional development courses in the past where the instructor preached about new methodologies but still used lecturing instead of modelling them. I promised myself not to do that and I have been very successful at it so far!

Professional Development Best Practices

We use best practices in professional development for teachers, like emphasizing participants' interaction, analyzing participants needs before the course begins and collecting detailed feedback that is read and implemented, promoting networking and sharing of best practices as well as ongoing reflection and follow up after the course.

We use a digital platform for communication, before, during and after the course, also following up and being available for 3 months after the end of the course. Team building activities and creating a culture of trust and a safe environment are key elements of all our trainings since we believe they are essential for building a learning community and help to build effective collaboration.

In all our trainings teachers become makers, they learn by doing and create a specific product that will be useful for them and others with similar needs.

We have even developed our signature PD quality methodological framework,  read more here.

We offer scheduled courses in Seville, Spain. Most of the courses are held in the beautiful and historical city of Seville in the south of Spain.

However, we love to take PBL where you are you can also contact us to organize a custom session for your school anywhere in the world.

Erasmus Plus KA1

Most of our face to face trainings are designed to be eligible for Erasmus Plus KA1 and be funded 100%. though they can also adjust to other funding programs and we can customize them for your specific needs if counting at least with 6 participants, at any location.

Our main Goal

This program has been created by a teacher with teachers in mind. The courses developed aim to enhance the expertise of teachers on Project Based Learning and the soft skills necessary to succeed in doing so.

Additionally, as it name implies, the teacher program ambitions to empower teachers to connect so as they learn mainly from the interaction of their minds. We provide teacher participants with the right space, resources and safe environment so as they can try to answer a very important driving question, how can we teachers improve education together rather than isolated?
